FAQ - Pool Algaecides | Pool Chemicals
Does algaecide replace chlorine?
No. Algaecide is a preventive support: disinfection must be managed with chlorine and by controlling pH according to water test results.
In what order should algaecide and chlorine be used?
Generally, the parameters are balanced first (especially pH), disinfection is carried out (chlorine) and then the algaecide is applied as prevention. Follow the instructions on the label and never mix products together.
Are algaecide and anti-algae the same thing?
In the pool sector, “algaecide” is often used as a synonym for “anti-algae”: both refer to products that help prevent algae growth.
When is it best to use it?
As a preventive measure, especially in hot weather, with heavy use, after rain or when you want to reduce the risk of green water and deposits on surfaces.
When is it recommended to use UNI ALGA END EXTRA when opening the pool?
At the start of the season it is useful as a preventive support after restoring the system and the first disinfection, to reduce the risk of algae in the first weeks. Always follow the dosage on the label.
Can I use UNI ALGA END EXTRA together with a shock treatment?
It can be used as support, but it must never be mixed directly with other chemicals. After the shock treatment, wait until the water stabilizes and follow the product instructions for timing and dosage.
How often should it be used for maintenance?
It depends on temperature, usage and water volume. The correct rule is to follow the label and adapt the routine to the tests and conditions (heat and bathers increase demand).
What are the most common mistakes with anti-algae (algaecide)?
Underdosing or using it only once without continuity, neglecting pH and disinfection, pouring the product in the same spot without distribution, and mixing different chemicals.
If the water is already green, is algaecide enough?
Usually not: when the water is green, a corrective disinfection (e.g. chlorine shock) and filtration/vacuuming are needed first; algaecide is more effective as prevention and support after restoration.
Where should the product be poured correctly?
Generally into the pool with active circulation, distributing it along the perimeter to favor dispersion. Follow the label instructions for application and safety.
