What is the difference between slow-release chlorine and fast-acting chlorine for pools?
Slow-release chlorine is used for regular water maintenance, as it dissolves gradually and helps keep chlorine levels more stable over time. Fast-acting chlorine is recommended when a quick intervention is needed, for example in case of low chlorine, cloudy water, green water, or shock treatment.
When should shock chlorine be used in a pool?
Shock chlorine is used when the water has lost clarity, after rain, heavy pool usage, at the start of the season, or when chlorine levels are too low and a rapid recovery is needed.
Which chlorine should be used for weekly maintenance?
For weekly maintenance, slow-dissolving tablets are usually used, such as 90% trichlorine or 200 g multifunction tablets.
Does multifunction chlorine replace all other products?
No. Multifunction chlorine is useful for simplifying routine maintenance, but in the presence of specific issues such as significant green water, persistent cloudy water, pH out of range, or metals/limescale, a dedicated treatment may be required.
When should liquid chlorine be chosen for a pool?
Liquid chlorine is particularly suitable for systems with a dosing pump or for those who manage the pool more technically and want more precise and programmable dosing.
Is granular chlorine better than tablets?
It is not a matter of “better”, but of use. Granular chlorine is more suitable for quick interventions and shock treatments, while tablets are more convenient for continuous maintenance.
What should be used if the pool water is green?
A fast treatment is generally required, often with shock chlorine, along with pH control and proper filtration. If the problem tends to recur, adding an anti-algae product may also be useful.
What should be used if the pool water is cloudy?
It depends on the cause. If the issue is related to organic load or insufficient chlorine, a fast or shock chlorine treatment may help. If cloudiness persists, a flocculant or a more thorough check of water parameters may also be needed.
Where should chlorine tablets be placed?
Tablets are usually placed in the skimmer or in a floating dispenser, depending on the product type and pool system. They should not be placed directly in the pool unless explicitly indicated.
How often should chlorine be checked in a pool?
Chlorine should be checked regularly throughout the season, especially during high temperatures, heavy pool use, or after rain, as demand can change quickly.
Why does chlorine drop too quickly in a pool?
This can depend on heat, sunlight, heavy usage, high organic load, unbalanced water parameters, or treatment not suited to the type of use. In these cases, it is important to also check the pH and choose between slow, fast, or liquid chlorine depending on the situation.
Can chlorine be used together with other chemical products?
Chlorine is part of routine water management, but it must never be mixed directly with other chemicals. Treatments should be carried out following product instructions and keeping parameters under control.
