Swimming pool filter systems: sand filter and pump in a single unit
In this collection youβll find swimming pool filter systems made up of a pump and sand filter, designed for water circulation and the removal of suspended impurities.
The proposed solutions are available with different flow rates, power ratings and filter sizes, for inground and above ground pools, depending on the features and intended use of each model.
The pump and filter must work together: a correctly sized filtration system promotes water circulation and effective filtration.
What youβll find in this collection
This collection is dedicated to complete filtration systems with pump and filter, including monobloc systems with components mounted on a common base.
- Sand filter systems with pump: matched components for water circulation and filtration.
- Monobloc filter systems: compact configurations that combine pump and filter on a common base.
- Systems for above ground and inground pools: to be chosen according to pool volume and system specifications.
- Systems with different flow rates in mΒ³/h: to meet different circulation needs.
- Models with prefilter, multiport valve and pressure gauge: features to be checked in each individual product sheet.
Individual pumps for filtration and circulation and filters sold separately are available in their respective dedicated collections.
How a sand filter system works
The pump draws water from the pool and sends it to the filter. Inside the tank, the filter media traps suspended impurities before the water returns to the pool through the return inlets.
On models that include it, the pump prefilter catches leaves and larger debris, helping to protect the hydraulic part of the pump.
Filtration supports water treatment: it does not replace disinfection and chemical parameter control.
How to choose a pool filter system
The choice should not be based only on the pump power in HP or CV. It is important to assess the flow rate of the filtration system, the characteristics of the filter and the actual installation conditions.
- Pool volume in mΒ³ and planned circulation times.
- Filtration flow rate in mΒ³/h.
- Filter diameter and filtration surface area.
- Distance and height difference between filtration system and pool.
- Diameter, length and route of the piping.
- Type and size of the connections.
- Presence of heat pumps, chlorinators or other equipment.
- Space available for installation and maintenance.
A more powerful pump does not automatically mean better filtration. Pump, filter and hydraulic circuit must be sized consistently.
Flow rate and pool volume
The flow rate, expressed in mΒ³/h, indicates the volume of water moved in one hour. The actual flow rate also depends on circuit resistance, connected equipment and the cleanliness of the filter.
When an indicative pool volume is shown in the product sheet, it is important to also consider the circulation time used to determine it and the conditions of the system.
The time for a single circulation cycle does not necessarily coincide with the total daily operating time, which must be adapted to the conditions of the pool.
Filter systems for above ground and inground pools
Filter systems can be used on above ground or inground pools when the selected model is compatible with the relevant installation.
Before purchasing, check the flow rate, connections, pump position in relation to the water level and the manufacturerβs instructions. On existing systems it is also important to check compatibility with the piping and equipment already installed.
Sand and filter media
Each filter requires a specific quantity and grain size of filter media. This data must be followed for correct system operation.
The use of filter glass or other alternatives to sand must be checked according to the instructions of both the filter manufacturer and the media manufacturer.
The filter media is not always included. Check the product sheet to find out what the package contains and the required media load.
Multiport valve and filter maintenance
On models equipped with a multiport valve, the available positions allow you to manage filtration and maintenance operations such as backwash and rinse. Functions vary depending on the valve installed.
The pressure gauge, when present, allows you to monitor filter pressure. Prefilter cleaning and backwashing must be carried out according to the manufacturerβs instructions.
Always switch off the pump before changing the position of the selector valve.
Compatibility with saltwater pools
For pools equipped with a saltwater chlorination system, check the compatibility of the entire filtration system, including pump, filter and all components in contact with water.
Compatibility and any salinity limits depend on the model: refer to the technical sheet and the manufacturerβs manual.
Replacing an existing filter system
To replace an old filter system, it is not enough to compare only the pump power. You need to check the flow rate, filter size, connections, footprint and characteristics of the hydraulic circuit.
A photo of the system and the data plates on the pump and filter can help identify a compatible solution and any fittings required.
